Treasure ref. 2014 T969: an incomplete silver cufflink of Post-Medieval date (AD 1662-1700).
The object consists of a circular pressed disk with a flat upper and concave reverse. The upper surface is decorated with two crowned hearts (Lewis form 1, type A). The loop on the reverse is missing.
Cufflinks and buttons with this design are considered to have originally been produced to commemorate the marriage of Charles II to Catherine of Braganza (1662), but continued to be used as a general symbol of love and/or marriage (Lewis 2013).
