Incomplete medieval gilt copper alloy spur buckle, all of the integral frame and the pin missing. From the break the plate tapers past the pin hole and one rivet hole for two-thirds of it length before expanding beyond a second rivet hole to the inside edge, from which springs a (distorted) hook or scroll. Most of the front surface is covered with engraved rocker-arm. Length (without scroll) 28mm. Width 10.5 - 6.5mm. 13th - 14th century.
