Incomplete and badly distorted medieval gilt sheet copper alloy buckle plate, the front part only, broken at the fold, with pin slot, frame recesses, two rivet holes near the inside edge and a die-stamped lion passant reguardant in relief on a field of closely set punched ladder-like impressions. Very similar to Egan and Pritchard 1991, no. 500. Length and width 23.5 and 18.8mm. Early 13th century.
