A copper alloy Post Medeival dress fastening of probable 15th Century date. The fastener has a hemispherical head with twisted copper allloy wire, imitating thread, is wound around the raised three knobs to portray knots and loops. The reverse of the head is undecorated and has a separate shank that has been welded on with a white metal solder. There is white metal visable on the edge of the head suggesting that the fastening was silvered. The shank is circular sectioned and terminates in a point. The dress hook is 22.2mm long, 10.6mm wide, 6.5mm thick and weighs 0.92 grams.
