An incomplete cast copper-alloy buckle, probably a spur buckle, of Medieval date. It is in two joining fragments and is missing its pin due to old breaks. The buckle has an oval frame that is oval in section, with slight triangular projections where frame and integral plate meet. At the inner edge of the frame the plate has a large circular pin hole. The plate itself is rectangular in form, D-shaped in section and at the attachment end has a rectangular terminal with projecting triangular knop. At the centre of the terminal and at the centre of the plate close to the pin hole are single circular rivet holes. It measures 44.80mm in length (bent), 12.96mm in width (at frame), 1.91mm in thickness, and 1.72g in weight.
This is a copper-alloy buckle, probably a spur buckle, of Medieval date. It finds parallels in terms of form and function with examples published from London (Egan and Pritchard, 1991: nos. 320-321) and is likely to date to the 13th or 14th centuries AD.
