An incomplete cast copper-alloy double-oval buckle frame of post-medieval date (c.1550-1650), missing most of one loop and the pin.
The surviving loop is decorated with prominent mouldings to the outside edge - a central V-shaped moulding would have acted as a pin rest. This is flanked by double transverse ridges, with a further pair of ridges in each corner. The outside edge is curving in profile. The pin bar is trapezoidal in cross-section with traces of orange/brown corrosion product at its centre and around the centre of the outside edge, suggesting that the pin was made of iron.
The frame has a dark-grey/green patina.
A similar buckle, though with different mouldings, can be found illustrated in Whitehead (2003, 61; ref. 358).
Measures 25.87x30.81mm (internal surviving loop 19.64x31.24mm) and weighs 2.69g.
