A copper alloy Post Medieval buckle dating from about AD 1550 - 1650. The double looped buckle has D shaped loops, the outer edges expanded into triangular knops with a recessed rosette adorning each one. There are knops at each end of the bar. The loops bend slightly forwards form the bar. The pin and plate are misisng. The metal has a smooth dark brown patina. Compare buckles on page 66 of Whitehead's Buckles. The frame is 47.6mm long, 28.1mm wide and 3.6mm thick. 7.64g.
