A post medieval ceramic rim sherd from a tin-glazed earthernware vessel dating to the late 17th century. This vessel has an upright rim and the external surface is decorated with a yellow border and below that either a floral or figurative pattern. The yellow border is further decorated with painted triangles above and diagonal lines below a painted blue or black stripe. The detail of the floral or figurative pattern is difficult to decipher, there is a curving element ending in an elaborate terminal that may be the head of a beast or it might be plant. The detail is painted in a dark coloured paint with patches of yellow highlighting areas. The inner glazed surface is now an irregular blue colour but that might be due to Thames staining.
Roy Stephenson notes this fine vessel might be German in origin and almost certainly dates to the late 17th century,
