A flint scraper of probable Neolithic to Bronze Age date (c. 4000 - 801 BC).
The tool, which has been made on a thick secondary blade, is sub-rectangular in plan and of sub-trapezoidal section. The remaining cortex occupies the central portion of the dorsal surface. The mesial edges have abrupt, irregular retouch; the distal end is more carefully worked, with long, sub-parallel and abrupt retouch. The opposing end has been squared off, possibly by grinding or abrupt retouch, and the surface above exhibits long, sub-parallel, low angle retouch, which is interrupted by a fossil inclusion. On the ventral surface no trace of the striking point remains and there are no ripples. Exposure to alkaline soil has resulted in a white surface, with occasional iron staining.
