An incomplete copper-alloy Roman mount.
This mount comprises a rectangular plate (now damaged), with part of a curved projection on the top left-hand corner. A panel of enamelled cells occupies most of the upper surface of the plate. Two lozenge-shaped cells are located at the centre, set side-by-side and retaining parts of their dark blue insets. A border of inward-pointing triangular cells surrounds these lozenges; one retains its entire red enamel inset, and traces of red survive in two of the others. An incised groove extends around the panel of cells, with a border of interlocking triangles outside this, covering all but the horizontal top side. There are two integrally cast rivets on the reverse; these project backwards, forming a right-angle with the back of the plate, their ends flattened to secure them in place. The reverse of the curved projection has a concave underside.
Length: 27.4mm; width: 23.3mm; thickness (including rivets): 6.5mm. Weight: 5.31g.
