Lead net sinker. Conical weight, possibly for a fishing net, made by rolling lead sheet of thickness 3-4.3mm with a butted seam, leaving an aperture of diameter 8mm. Patinated overall. This is a shorter version of tubular net sinkers, as recorded from Middle Saxon Flixborough, though the form continued in use for later smaller line weights. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 750-850.
