A copper-alloy trumpet brooch of the Roman period, c. 75-200.
The brooch is incomplete, missing the pin, foot and catchplate of the brooch, but is otherwise in good condition. The bell-shaped head has the base of a headloop on the upper edge, and a cast integral lug on the reverse holds four coils of the sprung pin. The bow has opposed acanthus decoration in full round, with the break occuring just below this peak of the bow.
