A late Saxon nielloed copper alloy strap-end. It is tongue-shaped and of Thomas' Type A. The body is sub-rectangular and contains a worn nielloed panel containing an animal motif. There appears to be a circular motif between the panel and the bifurcated end, though this is now extremely worn. A copper alloy rivet is located at this end in the middle. The strap-end terminates with an abstract animal-head. It has large rounded ears and a face outlined by niello.
