An incomplete Medieval cast copper-alloy buckle frame (c. 1200-c. 1230). The frame is a Meols Type 2.
The pin is missing.
This single-loop frame is convex at the front and flat at the rear. It is 'D'-shaped in plan and has a slightly expanded edge. It has an offset and narrowed bar which is sub-rectangular in cross-section.
The frame is corroded and green with flecks of a dark green patina.
Length: 15.8mm; width: 19.2mm; thickness: 2.3mm. Weight: 1.29g.
A similar frame from London has been dated c. 1200-c. 1400 (Egan and Pritchard 1991: 68, fig. 42, refs: 271, 274, 277).
