Cast copper alloy double-looped oval buckle frame with moulded trilobed outer edges and knopped circular lobes at either end of the strap bar. Each of the three lobes on both outer edges has a moulded longitudinal central groove which seems to expand at the terminus, creating a leaf-effect, but the surface is too corroded to make out the detail of the design. The moulded lobes at either end of the strap bar have slightly recessed spherical knops extending outwards, away from the frame, but one has almost worn away. The frame is internally bevelled and the strap bar is narrowed and recessed from the frame. The pin is missing. Viewed in profile the buckle has been bent at an angle as a consequence of old damage and is no longer flat.
Whitehead (1996) illustrates similar buckles on pages 63 & 65, nos.379 & 399, which are dated from c.1550-1650.
