A complete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy trade weight (c. 1850).
This weight is circular in plan with a raised flat rim and flat base. The sides flare from the base towards the rim. Within the rim the surface is slightly concave and is stamped with a verification mark:
C*S.
Other stamped marks are indeterminate.
The base has a small circular pit at the centre.
This weight has a green patina which is obscured in places by consolidated soil.
Diameter at top: 17.8mm; width of rim: 2.5mm; thickness: 4.6mm. Weight: 6.55g. (0.2315 ounces).
Notes:
C*S is a verification mark for Hampshire used about 1850.
