Incomplete medieval copper alloy openwork buckle plate, rectangular and probably integral with a frame. At the inside edge a large trefoil knop is wider than the plate. At its centre there is a rivet hole. The openwork comprises a round aperture and a rectangular opening truncated by the break, and two curving lines of finely executed interrupted rocker-arm engraving give the appearance of tiny addorsed triangles. Broadly comparable with Whitehead 2003, no. 202 and HAMP1875, on both of which there are two rectangular apertures.. Extant length 24.5mm. Width 18.7mm. 13th - 14th century.
