A complete, copper-alloy single-looped buckle frame and gilded integral plate of medieval date, c.1250-1500. The single looped buckle is D shaped, the perforation is slightly irregular and oval, the reverse is bevelled. The plate is rectangular and rectangular in cross section. adjacent to the loop is a circular perforation which holds a pin of a different alloy to the buckle and plate. Adjacent to the perforation and the tip of the plate are two oval perforations, one still contains a copper-alloy rivet the other is missing. The plate is decorated with a foliate design with gilding. The reverse is undecorated.
The entire artefact is 56.10mm in length, 17.95mm wide, 12.65mm wide at the plate, 1.9mm thick and weigh 7.39 grams.
