A Roman copper alloy flat enamelled disc (sexfoil) brooch dating to the period c. AD 100 - 250. The brooch consists of a circular plate with a reserved band of copper alloy running around the edge. Within this is a recessed outer field filled with damaged light blue enamel surrounding a metal reserve in the shape of a six-pointed star with circular pellets on the points. Inside the star is a recess containing red enamel around a central metal pellet. The edge of the plate is damaged and slightly bent.
The reverse of the plate features a single pierced lug for the attachment of a missing spring pin. The opposite edge of the plate exhibits the remains of the catchplate.
The brooch measures 21.19mm in diameter, is 5.89mm thick and weighs 3.88g.
