Copper alloy possible sword hanger fragment. Cast bar of round section which tapers slightly from its broken hollow end which passes through a separate collar of diameter 10.2mm, towards an elongated and facetted terminal surmounting its hooked end. The facets of the terminal bear file marks from finishing. A more prosaic and recent identification, as kindly offered by the finder, might be a coat hook, though traces of finishing on the facetted terminal would not survive the wear to be expected from long use. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, possibly 1500-1650,
