Roman? copper alloy key fragment, 43mm long, 27mm wide and 5mm thck with a weight of 15.42grams.
The object has a sub-circular form and rectangular section. It begins with a rectangular shaped terminal which is missing one surface. It has two incised lines running horizontally across its surface, close to where it joins the main object. These are interupted by a circular rivet? hole. On the surviving long side the object has a patch of silvering? Below this the object consists of an open circle which has a S shaped linear motif in its centre, all of which has a rectangular section. Below this, and opposite the rectangular terminal, is a sub-oval section with two circular holes aligned horizontally, filling most of its surface. Next to this, centrally placed are the remains of a further circular open loop which has broken off.
