A complete but misshapen and fractured Medieval to post-Medieval copper-alloy closed thimble (c. 1400-c. 1550).
This thimble is domed and the thick walls have a continuous spiral of hand drilled circular pits that spiral in a clockwise direction from the base towards the crown. The rim is plain and thickened and there are no manufacture marks.
The thimble is matt purplish brown.
Height: 19.6mm; width: 24.4mm; thickness: 17.1mm; thickness at rim: 1.0mm. Weight: 5.74g.
