Mount

Unique ID: NMGW-98E5C7

Object type certainty:

Medieval cast copper alloy cruciform mount, probably of 14th or early 15th century date and originating from a casket, large book or similar. The mount has four arms with concave sides. Each arm ends in a trefoil terminal with a central perforation for attachment. At the centre, is a square base before a raised collar and a flat topped cone. The central boss is hollow and contains the remnants of a possible solder. The comparatively heavy design of the mount may suggest it originated from a casket.
