A tinned copper alloy modern button of the Buckinghamshire 85th Regiment of Foot dating to the period c. 1800 - 1815. The button is circular in plan and is decorated by an eight-pointed star within which sits a belt motif with the legend BUCKS running around the circumference. A scalloped border on the inner edge of the belt surrounds the number 85. The obverse is tinned, the reverse is not. The reverse features a sub-oval lug with the maker's name J.S. S. FIRMIN AAND [...] running around it.
