An incomplete cast copper-alloy strap end of Medieval date. It has rectangular front plate, missing most of the sheet spacer and back plate due to old breaks. The plate has a single circular rivet hole at the attachment end and is decorated on its front face with two interlaced zig-zag bands of rocker decoration that produce lozenge shaped motifs. At the base of the plate is a narrow neck from which extends an integral terminal knop. This is rectangular in form with curved bottom edge, transverse groove at top and triangular notched around its edges. At the centre of the terminal is a separately cast copper-alloy rivet on the back face of which are traces of the spacer and back plate. The entire object measures 46.94mm in length (bent), 9.30mm in width, 1.82mm in thickness, and 3.15g in weight. This is a strap end of Medieval date, c.14th century AD (cf. Margeson, 1993: nos. 233-234).
