An incomplete and worn copper-alloy conical strap fitting of Early Medieval date. It is missing the hook due to old breaks, now worn.
It is D-shaped in section. The upper half is hollow. At the top is a circumferential band with an expanding lozenge panel in the centre of the front face. The base of this extends into a longitudinal rectangular bifurcate before joining the solid lower half. The lower half tapers into the remains of a circular hook before terminating in old breaks.
This strap fitting measures 40.37mm in length, 17.17mm in in diameter at the top, 6.34mm in width at the bottom, 7.15mm in height at the bottom, 3.56mm in diameter at the hook, 4.58mm in thickness, 10.61g in weight.
There is a similar example in Read (Read, 2008, p. 214, 770).
