An incomplete copper-alloy casket key of Medieval date. It is missing part of the bow due to old breaks, now worn.
The remains of the bow is circular measuring 11.60mm in external diameter and 6.12mm internally. The stem is hollow. The bit of the key is rectangular and has a pair of opposing clefts 9.38mm in length and 9.10mm in width.
This key measures 30.75mm in length, 5.00mm in width, 4.37mm in thickness, 4.45g in weight.
There is a similar example from London (Egan, 1998, pp.112, no. 294) and recorded on the PAS database (NLM-E26DF0).
