An incomplete copper-alloy sub-rectangular mount or stud of Post-Medieval date. It is missing the terminals of the spikes due to old breaks, now worn.
It is flat and tapers towards a rounded base. At the terminal is a transverse rectangular collar with a triangular knop. At the top is a central square panel with an opposing comma-shaped motif to either side. Beneath this are two possible longitudinal lines of scroll motifs, however, it is too worn to be certain. There are traces of gilding on the front face. On the back face are the remains of two integrally cast spikes. These are flat, rectangular and taper to old breaks.
This mount measures 27.67mm in length, 13.55mm in width, 1.51mm in thickness, 2.39g in weight.
There are similar examples recorded on the PAS database (WILT-B8C703), (IOW-4D9F68). However, no direct parallels could be found.
