An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle plated dating from the Medieval to the Post-Medieval period. The buckle is missing and would have been single looped. The plate is rectangular in plan and cross-section and loops around the strap bar, which remains in-situ, at one end. The plate has a U-shaped notch within which the incomplete pin sits. The pin remains mobile. The plate is held together with three domed circular rivets measuring 3.87mm in diameter.
The upper face of the plate is decorated with two transverse grooves between which are a series of small vertical grooves. Another transverse groove decorates the opposite end of the plate. The object has a dark brown patina where remaining and is corroded in places.
