A complete sheet copper-alloy bell of Medieval date.
It is spherical in shape and composed of two hemispherical halves soldered together creating a very slight circumferential ridge. At the top is an integrally cast circular suspension loop. To either side are opposing circular sound holes. There is white metal coating on all faces.
This bell measures 13.03mm in diameter, 16.62mm in total length (including suspension loop), 1.93g in weight.
This relatively small bell may well have been utilised on clothing or perhaps even as a hawking bell. There are similar examples recorded by Read (Read, 1995, p. 89, no. 535-536) and recorded on the PAS database (SF-DFE810).
