A 19th century oval gold locket. The locket is hinged into two valves and has retained its contents. On the front of the locket is an engraved horse's head above a coronet, signifying a family.
Within one valve is a sheet of paper with a linen backing and part of a glass protective layer. The paper is presumably the remains of a photograph but nothing is now visible. The remainder of the contents are n olnger clear but include some apparent hair, the wing of an insect and other material not readily identifiable.
