An incomplete copper alloy purse bar dating to the late medieval period, c. AD 1400 to 1600.
The object has a central sub-oval block from which projects two arms which are sub-circular in section. They step down to narrow before both arms terminate in a break. There is a third projection from the central block with is sub-spherical. On the opposite side of the central block there is a recess which may suggest a hole through the block however the object is now very corroded and so may have sealed over.
There are similar objects recorded on the PAS database, see for example YORYM-D8D7B4 for a different type of central block and GLO-9C6B97 for a more complete purse bar.
