An incomplete copper alloy Roman (AD c.75-c.200) T-shaped brooch The head is comprised of long tubular wings from the centre of which the bow rises up before tapering out and downwards towards the foot. The hinge mechanism is missing as is the pin but the catchplate is complete. The wings are also damaged. The wings are cylindrical with a central slot for the pin. The bow is comma shaped in section. The catchplate projects from the reverse of the foot. Decoration consists of a five vertical grooves across each wing with two horizontal raised lines along the top of the bow and a further raised knopped ridge underneath.
