A complete copper alloy as of Commodus (AD 177-92), dating to AD 184-5 (Reece Period 9), P M TR P X IMP VII COS IIII P P, S C, ITALIA in exergue, Italia seated leff on globe holding cornucopiae and sceptre. RIC III, p. 418, no. 458. The coin is in fine condition with irregular corroded edges and an attractive dark brown patina. This coin is 28.76mm long, 25.80mm wide, 3.90mm thick, diameter 28.76mm and weighs 8.8g. Die axis: 6 o'clock. This coin was originally identified as a sestertius, but at 8.8g it is too light, so is probably an as.
