A complete, lead alloy loom weight or spindle whorl of an uncertain date but probably Medieval-Post Medieval (AD 1300-1800). It is circular in plan and sub-rectangular in section, the perforation in the centre is circular and measures 8mm in diameter. The surface on all sides is undecorated and cream/grey in colour. Objects of this type are dated from the Roman to the Medieval periods and change very little due to their functional nature. Decorated examples are easier to date to the Medieval to Post Medieval periods whilst undecorated examples, as this object is, cannot be securely dated without supporting contextual evidence.
