WEIGHT

Unique ID: DENO-470726

Object type certainty: Probably
Workflow status: Published Find published

Undated lead-alloy probable weight, possible of uncertain date. The weight is bun-shaped (like a doughnut) being a flattened spherical shape with a circular opening (8mm diameter) which is depressed around the edges on both faces so that the hole is hour-glass shaped in section.

Such simple lead weights are notoriously difficult to date and may have served a number of weight-related tasks, not just loom related.
