DENO-41DD10An incomplete copper-alloy dress hook (clothing fastener) of post Medieval date (AD c.1500-1600). The fitting is made in one piece and consists of three components, namely the attachment loop, decorative plate and hook - In this case the hook is missing. The main body of the fastener is a flat sub-oval plate which is plain on the reverse and carries a raised floral design in relief on the front. The attachment loop is trapezoidal in outline and on the opposite side of the plate to the loop is a break where the hook would have been.
A parallel is illustrated in Read (2008, 96; ref. 355) within his Early post-medieval Class E, Type 3 group. Design parallels on the PAS database include DENO-41DD10, SUSS-735DB2, PUBLIC-E6D9B2 & HAMP-191D46.
