A Medieval, cast copper alloy, single loop composite buckle with an integral forked spacer, dating from AD 1325 - 1450. The frame is oval, lipped and with a bevelled edge. There is a single groove in the outer edge to accommodate the copper alloy wire pin. The pin remains in place. The buckle plates are missing. The buckle has a smooth, dark brown patina. It is 34.2mm long, 20.4mm wide and 5mm thick. It weighs 3.25gm. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, 2003, Buckles 1250 - 1800, page 36, number 214. See also Egan and Pritchard, page 78 ff.
