A complete Medieval cast silver-gilt oval buckle frame with a swollen outer edge and a narrowed off-set bar (c. 1270-c. 1400). Treasure case no. 2014 T568.
The frame is largely sub-triangular in cross-section and has a V-shaped notch on the upper face of the swelling. Two worn grooves on the bar may indicate that the frame was furnished with a plate. Faint striations on the flat rear face may be file marks. The pin is missing. This buckle frame is slightly worn and has traces of gilding.
