A complete copper alloy mount or strap fitting for the end of a belt, dating to the Post Medieval Period (circa AD 1500 - AD 1700).
The mount is trefoil in design at the left hand end, and the middle nodule is decorated with incised grooves in a small chevron pattern with small circular indentations. The mount then tapers to a rounded point with straight sides at the other end. The reverse of the mount has two vertical pointed lugs, one at either end, which would probably have attached the mount to the belt. The reverse is plain and undecorated.
The mount measures 24.4 mm in length, 13.5 mm wide, it has a thickness of 2.2 mm and weighs 2.0 grams.
The mount is a dark green to brown in colour and has an uneven surface patina. Abrasion whilst within the plough soil has resulted in the loss of some of the original surface detail.
