An incomplete white metal mount in the form of an eagle with its wings spread dating from the Post Medieval to Modern period (circa AD 1600 - 1800).
The bird's head is angled to the left, and is wearing what appears to be a crown. The feather's are represented by moulded detail on the top and bottom. The mount is clearly broken, one wing and one lug are missing, presumably lost in antiquity. One lug where the bird's feet are were, remains, this presumably is for attachment.
The object is a dark green to grey in colour. Traces of black paint are present on the surface.
The mount measures 29.2 mm long, 25.4 mm wide 6.2 mm thick and weighs 9.3 grams.
Several similar examples are recorded on the PAS database (see for example BH-C3F578, DENO-C50D2 and WMID-7B9515), and most are clearly of post-medieval to modern date. The latter example also has the traces of black paint applied.
