A complete lead alloy weight dating from the Post Medieval Period (Circa AD 1500 - 1700).
The weight is sub oval in plan and sub rectangular in cross section. The obverse has an uneven border around the outside, creating an inner oval. It is undecorated but there are seven vertical scars or grooves on the obverse which most likely were not meant for decoration but were probably made in antiquity. The reverse is plain and undecorated.
The object measures 21.4 mm long and 19.6 mm wide. It has a thickness of 4.5 mm, and weighs 11.3 g.
The weight is a mid to dark grey in colour and an uneven surface patina. Abrasion whilst within the plough soil has resulted in the loss of some of the original surface detail.
