An incomplete and worn cast copper-alloy purse bar of Post-Medieval date. One terminal end of the bar survives, the remainder of the object is missing due to old breaks, now worn.
It is rectangular and V-shaped in section, with a slightly rounded front face. The terminal has been bent outwards to an angle of 90 degrees from the plane of the bar. The back face of the bar has a single circular sewing hole.
This purse measure 38.64mm in length, 6.33mm in width, 5.13mm in thickness, 6.48g in weight.
This is a purse bar frame of LMMC Type A with a similar (but decorated) example recorded from Norwich (Margeson, 1993, p. 42, no. 290) and recorded on the PAS database (SF-55BF47), (SF-95BCF4).
