A complete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy scale knife end-cap (1500-1600).

This end-cap is oval in cross-section. Each side has an engraved or incised saltire within an engraved or incised frame. The flat top has a multi-pointed star motif and the underside has a slot for the tang. The remains of a corroded iron tang survives in situ.

The end-cap is corroded and light brown.

Height: 14.4mm; width: 11.5mm; thickness: 8.6mm. Weight: 6.37g.
