A copper-alloy set of tweezers, dating from the Roman period.
The now-distorted tweezers have been made from a parallel-sided strip of copper-alloy, folded double to create an apex loop. A column of punchmarks extends down the centre of each arm, beginning at the base of the loop and terminating one third of the way up from the damaged ends. Each of these punchmarks is oval and has four incuse segments.
Length: 48.5mm; width: 5.7mm. Weight: 3.48g.
A similar set of tweezers was found in excavations at Baldock, Hertfordshire (Stead and Rigby 1986: 130/fig. 57, no. 312).
