An incomplete copper alloy seal matrix of medieval date. The die of the matrix is oval with an oval sectioned handle extending from the reverse. The handle tapers to a triple circumferential collar from which the worn remains of a tri-lobed terminal projects. The die itself is decorated with an incised legend around a central devise though both are now too worn to be determined.
The metal has a dark blackish-green patina and is worn. The seal matrix is 12.5mm tall, the die is 13.3mm x 10.9mm and it weighs 2.3g.
