A complete lead alloy badge of medieval date. The badge is in the form of a five-pointed star within a large crescent. The arms of the star are curvilinear and one end of the crescent is bent outwards.
The metal is a dark greyish-black colour and is worn. The badge is 23.9mm long, 20.9mm wide, 2.8mm thick and weighs 3.1g.
The star and crescent symbol was a traditional badge of the Plantagenets during the period Richard I to Edward I and were also popular in the 14th century.
