An incomplete copper alloy medieval (AD c.1250-c.1400) single loop oval buckle with an ornate outer edge and narrowed and offset strap bar, missing its pin and buckle plate. Overall, the frame measures 20.4mm long, 21.0mm wide and 4.3mm thick. It weighs 3.43g. The frame's outer edge has two angled knops flanking two transverse ridges, and a notched lip flanked by two transverse grooves. It is sub-triangular in section and the reverse is flat. The side edges of the frame are C-shaped in section. The strap bar is rectangular in section and has a shallow circumferential notch at its centre, possibly caused by the pin rather than an original feature.
