A group of two flint worked flakes of Mesolithic date.

1. A complete flint worked flake of Mesolithic date (7000-4000 BC). The lithic is sub-spatulate in profile and concavo-convex in section. The dorsal surface contains five predominant negative scars with corresponding arrises. The proximal and distal ends have been abruptly blunted and there is irregular semi-abrupt retouch to the left and right hand edges. The ventral surface is smooth and slightly concave with ripples of percussions emanating from the distal end. The lithic retains no cortex and is therefore a tertiary flake.

The flint is light brown in colour with dark grey inclusions throughout.

Length: 26.12mm, Width: 13.89mm, Thickness: 4.31mm, Weight: 1.7g.

2. A complete flint worked flake of Mesolithic date (7000-4000 BC). The lithic is sub-rectangular in profile and plano-convex in section. The dorsal surface contains three predominant negative scars with corresponding arrises and retains a large portion of cortex along the right hand edge. The proximal and distal ends have been abruptly blunted. The left and right hand edges contain some minor semi-abrupt retouch. The ventral surface is smooth with ripples of percussions emanating from a small bulb of percussion situated at the proximal end. The lithic retains some cortex and is therefore a secondary flake.

The flint is dark grey in colour with cream inclusions throughout. The cortex is light brown.

Length: 34.41mm, Width: 13.98mm, Thickness: 6.12mm, Weight: 2.6g.
