A copper alloy medieval (AD c.1250-c.1500) single loop D-shaped buckle with a narrowed and offset strap bar. Overall, the buckle measures 47.6mm long, 20.7mm wide and 5.3mm thick. It weighs 6.39g.
The frame measures 16.1mm long, 20.7mm wide and 3.1mm thick. It is sub-triangular in section (the front outer edge sloping), and has a notch for the pin.
The plate measures 33.8mm long, 14.1mm wide and 5.4mm thick. It is formed from a sub-rectangular, 1.2mm thick plate which wraps around the strap bar and narrows. The back part is only 13.9mm long and has a rivet hole for a rivet (now missing) to secure it to the front plate. The front part of the plate also has two rivet holes at its attachment end, one of which still has a copper alloy rivet in it. The front part has a grooved linear border along its edges and has a sub-rectangular perforation near its centre as a result of damage.
